Growing up, she traveled around with her father during harvest season. He taught her that nature is beautiful, and that it takes time to cultivate beauty.

"In the winter, we would drive through what seemed like an endless sea of dust clouds. But as spring approached, we could see the red ground beneath us, and the scent of rain on the horizon."
